I’m sure we all can agree that children are the little bundles of joy that add meaning to our lives. From holding them in your hands for the first time to seeing them grow into adults, every second we spend with has a special place in our hearts.
This Children’s’ Day, use the opportunity to show your children how much you treasure them by gifting them the remodelled room of their dreams.
Here are some kids’ room décor ideas for children of all ages that can help you get started
Infants and Toddlers:
Take a look at soft and mellow colours for wallpapers and furnishings like baby pink, lime, sky blue or light yellow. Give the child a fun environment to enhance their creative development. Use quirky wall hangings like animal figures, paper crafts or simple games. Prioritise safety over everything else. Baby proof the house by covering all sharp corners, blocking open electrical sockets and keeping anything potentially dangerous away from the baby’s reach.
5-10 years:
This age group consists of children who have already started going to school. The older they
grow, the more space they need for their own items.
Help them organize their items into storage closets, shelves and cabinets. If you have more than one child, bunk beds are handy to give each child their personal area and to save space.
Make sure to adjust the height of shelves, chairs and desks according to the child. Kids in this age group have a lot of ideas of their own. Go by their likes and dislikes. Install curtains and bed sheets with their favourite cartoon characters. You can also frame your child’s certificates and achievements on the wall.
10-15 years:
This is the age when children gradually begin to outgrow the cartoon characters and toys. You need to ensure that their room grows along with them. Their room needs to be mature as well as comfortable.
Posters of their favourite musician or sports stars are a good idea for the wall. Move along to more abstract and chic designs for curtains and bed covers. Have a mix of different colours instead of
restricting girls to pink and boys to blue. The room should also accommodate their hobbies and interests.
Having a separate area for their artwork station with a desk accompanied with cabinets and drawers for their art supplies. Or maybe labelled shelves to store their sports gear.
Music instruments may occupy more space than other items.
15 and above:
As children move closer to adulthood, their opinions and ideas become stronger. You must consider their views while decorating their room.
Their sense of aesthetic might be different from yours, so you need to strike a balance. As studies become more intense, help you child organize with useful pin boards, calendars and wall organizers. Study essentials and stationery containers also come in handy.
Recent trends among older teens include fairy lights and memory boards. Teens like to string up fairy lights on their walls where they put up pictures and posters. Memory boards are also a fancy wall décor for teens to pin-up photographs and other items that they cherish.
