The darkness that 2020 has brought about has all of us eagerly waiting for Diwali this year to brighten up our lives. Why not use the occasion to brighten up your homes too? Here are some ways to bring out the festive spirit in you through home décor.
Living Room:
This season is a perfect time to transform your homes and revamp your furniture. Don’t hesitate to use vibrant colours and bold patterns for your curtains, cushion covers and sofa covers. Move beyond the classic diyas and candles and try out suspended lights, chandeliers and quirky bulb accessories.
Bedroom:
I’m sure we’ve spent most of our time in our bedrooms during the lockdown. Aren’t you bored
with the same old layout and the standard colours?
Use the opportunity to change your sheets and covers or even the entire bed itself! Don’t forget to liven up the atmosphere through vivid paintings and light fittings. Put up some interesting wallpapers that go along with the traditional theme.
Balcony:
Diwali doesn’t feel like Diwali if there aren’t enough lights, does it? Hang lanterns and string
lights or place floating candles surrounded by flower petals. Incorporate antique lights made of bamboo or metal for a chic look. If you are a firm believer of Green Diwali, you can also lay down a grass lawn and install potted plants around railings. Consider altering the setting and introduce new
patio tables and seats with a traditional design.
Kitchen:
You may as well begin by re-organizing your kitchen for a clutter-free and airy space. Add festive accessories like torans, decorated bottle lights or
wineglass candles.
Dining:
Suppose you’re getting ready to play the host this season. In that case, it’s better to have your dining area ready for your guests. Pair beautiful fresh flowers in vases along with metallic accessories. Glam up the usual wooden furniture with velvet or textured upholstery for a rich Diwali ambience. Light up glass candles to set the mood.
